A live edge bench is one of those pieces that works everywhere — and looks like it belongs nowhere else. This custom black walnut live edge bench is handcrafted to your exact specifications, starting with a hand-selected solid walnut slab chosen for its grain, figure, and natural edge character.

Every bench begins with a conversation. You choose the length, the wood species, the stain colour, the leg style, and the finish. We source the slab, build your piece from scratch, and keep you updated throughout the process through a custom project page on our site — so you can follow along, ask questions, and weigh in at every stage of the build.

At approximately 4 feet long, 10 inches deep, and 16 inches standing height, the standard bench proportions work perfectly as a dining bench, entryway seat, bedroom accent, or hallway piece. Custom sizing is available for any length or configuration — from compact 2-foot side benches to full 8-foot dining sets.

The surface is finished in your choice of mat, satin, or high gloss coating over a Rubio Monocoat or stain base, applied over kiln-dried, planed wood to prevent warping and ensure a long-lasting, stable finish. Steel legs are milled to your preferred height and finish — matte black, brushed steel, or powder-coated options available.

This bench is also suitable for outdoor use on decks, patios, and garden spaces. We recommend bringing it indoors during winter months and avoiding extended periods of direct sunlight to preserve the finish long term.

Available in a wide range of wood species including black walnut, ambrosia maple, white oak, pine, and ash. Epoxy river options are also available — contact us to discuss adding a coloured or clear epoxy river inlay to your bench design.
